# 43. SMS History

The [SMS History](https://autosoftware.company/sms_history.php) is the log of every text message ARM has sent from the store, one line per message, with the number it went to, whether it was delivered to the messaging service, how many message segments it took and the text itself. Every feature that texts a customer writes here: estimate and invoice links, inspection approval links, appointment reminders, vehicle-ready notices, opt-in requests and the replies ARM sends automatically. Use it to confirm that a customer was sent a link or a reminder, to find failed messages, and to see how many segments the shop is sending, which is what the text messaging plan is billed on.

## How do I run the SMS History?

1. From the Home Screen, click Reports → Management & Operational Reports → SMS History.
2. To find messages to one number, type the start of the number into Search; you can also type the start of the sender's name.
3. Click the From : … To : … box beside Date and pick the sending dates to include, then click Apply. The × clears the dates.
4. In the dropdown choose Success, Fail or All; the report opens on Success.
5. Click Search to load the list, or Show All to clear every filter and start again.
6. Click any column heading to sort by it; click it again to reverse the order. Total: above the table is the number of messages listed, and long lists are split into pages with page links under the table.
7. Click [Export](https://autosoftware.company/export_report.php) to download the list as a spreadsheet file. The button appears only when the list has rows.

## How do I confirm a customer received the approval link?

1. From the Home Screen, click Reports → Management & Operational Reports → SMS History.
2. Type the start of the customer's mobile number, with the country code, into Search and click Search.
3. Find the line whose Message mentions the invoice number. Success means the messaging service accepted it for delivery; if it reads Fail, resend the text from the invoice.

## About this screen

Each line shows the Contact Number the text was sent to, written with its country code, the Status (Success when the messaging service accepted it, Fail when it did not), the SMS Count, which is the number of segments the message was split into for sending (a plain text message holds about 160 characters per segment, so a long message with a link often counts as two), and the Message text as sent, with the link the customer received. Newest messages are listed first. Replies from customers are not listed here; they appear in SMS Chat, and START and STOP replies in the Customer SMS History.

The Add To Favorites switch beside the heading saves the report under Favorites on the Reports page. The report is shown only in stores where text messaging is enabled. Which reports you see depends on your admin group permissions.
