# 12. Edit Customer Status

A Customer Status says where a customer is in your process — waiting, dropped off, and so on — and each one carries a colour so staff can read the board at a glance. It describes the customer, not the job; the job's own progress is Work Status. The list shows each Customer Status Type and its Status.

## How do I add a customer status?

1. From the Home Screen, click System Setup Tools → [Edit Customer Status](https://autosoftware.company/customer_status.php).
2. Click [ADD Customer Status](https://autosoftware.company/customer_status_form.php).
3. Enter the Customer Status Name, such as Waiting or Drop-off.
4. Pick the Color staff will see it in — use clearly different colours so the board is readable at a distance.
5. Leave Status set to Active.
6. Click Save.
